Since 1990, Treasure Smith has produced works that are community oriented and developed in collaboration with neighborhoods, public service agencies, and community service groups, generally with non-artists associations. Her projects are designed to promoted information, expand communication, and increase visibility of the groups and their concerns. In brief, her art acts as a bridge between herself and a variety of communities. Recently she has been involved with projects for Randolph Street Gallery, called Team Arts Pursuits and she is producing a guide book and video to promote and develop community arts partnerships for the Chicago area.

Smith is currently teaching at the Chicago Academy for the Arts and contributed to the Co-Laboratory project at the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois Chicago. She received a BS in art education from Southwest Baptist University and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
