Video artist Scott Rankin (born 1954) questions personal, social, cognitive, and linguistic relationships; their structure; and how they influence the way we think and view the world. Playful and perspicacious, his use of framing, interval, and timing investigates how we experience the world and categorize this experience.
He has taught photography, video, and visual language at University of Chicago since 1986. Rankin earned a BFA from Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia; and an MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
