Olafur Eliasson (born 1967) is a sculptor, photographer, and light artist. His large-scale installation art employs elemental materials such as light, water, and air temperature to enhance the viewer s experience. In 1995 he established Studio Olafur Eliasson, a laboratory for spatial research. Created with a self-conscious combination of natural materials and man-made technology, his art exists in a border space between magic and artifice. He has exhibited internationally, most recently at De Appel Foundation, Amsterdam; Frankfurter Kunstverein, Germany; Marc Foxx, Los Angeles; and Galleria Emi Fontana, Milan to name just a few.

This summer he will be presenting temporary installations in the Art Institute of Chicago’s contemporary art galleries.
