Mark Wallinger (born 1959) is an artist whose work is noted for its explorations of class, nationalism, belief, and death. Ecce Homo, perhaps his most noted sculpture, is a life-size sculpture of Christ that sat upon a plinth in Trafalgar Square in London in 1999. State Britain, created in 2007, addresses anti-protest laws drafted in 2005 for central London by recreating, in full detail, the signs and accoutrements of Brian Haw s peace protest in front of the Houses of Parliament, which were confiscated by police in 2005.

Mark Wallinger was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1995 and again in 2007. His solo exhibitions have been presented at Tate Modern, London; Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin; and Anthony Reynolds Gallery, London. </
