Working primarily in film and photography, Lin + Lam create research-based projects to examine how individual and national subjectivities are mediated and defined. They pose their project, Unidentified Vietnam, as a dialogue with time, history, and the viewer. Together, they are concerned with the unique capacity for film to demonstrate time, emphasizing the direct communal experience of cinematic viewing in contrast to mediation of a prior situation.
The duo has shown work internationally at venues including the Taiwan International Documentary Film Festival; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; and Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions.
