Voices: Judy Ledgerwood
Gallery 400 Lecture Room
1240 West Harrison Street
On her large canvases, Chicago-based painter Judy Ledgerwood (born 1959) expands the definition of modernism by displacing the authoritarian and pushing the primacy of visual engagement and pleasure. She draws upon rich and diverse sources from both the fine art and popular culture realms, including Abstract Expressionism, Op Art, interior design, fashion, textiles, and the decorative arts.
Ledgerwood is currently an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Art Theory and Practice at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She has had major solo exhibitions in Chicago at The Renaissance Society and the Rhona Hoffman Gallery. Ledgerwood has also exhibited at 1301PE in Los Angeles. Tracy Williams, Ltd. in New York will present a solo exhibition of Ledgerwood’s paintings in May 2005.</
