Voices: Jennifer Pastor
Gallery 400
1240 West Harrison Street
Jennifer Pastor s (born 1966) sculptures are large in scope, materially complex, and highly involved hybrids that employ an idiosyncratic and economic visual language. Her projects strategically investigate parallel and elastic structures in seemingly disparate subjects that have been intensively researched.
Pastor received a BFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York, and then acquired an MFA from University of California, Los Angeles in 1992. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Regen Projects, Los Angeles; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. In addition, she has been included in group exhibitions at such venues as the Venice Biennale in 2003; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and Barbara Gladstone Gallery, New York. Pastor is currently an Associate Professor of Visual Arts at University of California, San Diego.
