Else Gabriel (born 1962) and Ullf Wrede (born 1968) known collectively as (e.) Twin Gabriel, have worked together for the past eleven years. The artists use their shared past in the German Democratic Republic as a contrast to their new experiences in the “western” world. They believe the evolution of the sociocultural language of objects takes place through our interaction with them in our everyday experiences. Gabriel and Wrede subvert the practices of the artist letting the objects take a starring role. They celebrate the most overlooked objects the workaday, utilitarian, functional things that surround us are recruited to mirror back to us our dilemma.

They have exhibited worldwide and their latest work, belle indifference: urban legends and paranoia, is being shown at bona fide gallery, Chicago. It is their first solo show in the United States and the first time their work has been seen in the US since a 1995 group exhibition at ACME Gallery, Los Angeles.
