Deborah Stratman (born 1967) is a filmmaker and videographer, who also works in other media, including still photography, installation, and drawing. Her recently acclaimed film, In Order Not To Be Here, was included in the 2004 Whitney Biennial. The film examines anxiety, surveillance, and the suburban environment. Her latest film, Kings of the Sky, will premiere this September at the Toronto International Film Festival. Stratman has worked as a freelance cinematographer, assistant director, and art director. She has also taught film and video at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia.
