Photographer Catherine Opie (born 1961) has had solo exhibitions at Beyond Baroque, Venice, California; 494 Gallery, New York; Kiki Gallery, San Francisco; Teagan Projects, Los Angeles; and numerous group exhibitions internationally. Last year, her work was exhibited at the Whitney Biennial, where she showed a series of photographs that were about identity and a parody of male portraiture. Recently she had a show at Feigen Gallery, Chicago, exhibiting a new series that explores location and identity through a series of images of urban architectural structures. Her work is included in Persona, currently on view at the Renaissance Society, Chicago.

Opie currently teaches at the University of California, Irvine. She earned a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts.
