Photographer Angela Kelly (born 1950) confronts issues of social documentation by providing the viewer a perspective that does not claim to be conclusive. This empathetic perspective, one that searches for context, and attempts to reveal as opposed to create what her eye falls upon, is central to Kelly’s working methods. Her strategy is to apply a critical realism, combining “straight” photography with textural accompaniment.

She earned a BFA from Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham, England; and an MA in photography from Columbia College, Chicago.</p
