The Coming of Age of Chicago Design: 1920-1945 is an exhibition accompanied by a panel discussion on “A Continuing Tradition of the Graphic Arts.” Participating in the panel discussion were Bruce Beck of The Turtle Press, Michael Glass of Michael Glass Design, and Christopher Garland of Xeno. The exhibition was curated by Jeffrey Stvan, who also moderated the discussion.

The Coming of Age of Chicago Design: 1920-1945 is presented concurrently with Critical Regionalism.

Jeffrey Stvan (born 1964) is the editorial assistant for Design Issues, a scholarly journal of design history, theory, and criticism published by the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Architecture, Art, and Urban Planning and MIT Press. Since 1985, Stvan has served as a member of the Faculty Search Committee for the University of Illinois at Chicago History of Architecture and Art Department.

In the near future, Stvan will pursue his interest in curatorial practice as a curatorial assistant at Gallery 400, under director Karen Indeck.

His other research interests include historic preservation, product and graphic design theory and history, and exhibition design.
