Theatre & Music
Jazz Ensemble and Combo Concert
1040 W. Harrison St., Chicago, IL 60607
Jazz Combo Program
Our concert tonight features music from former members of the great Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers. This particular ensemble housed some of the greatest musicians and contributors in Jazz. You will hear music from trombonist Curtis Fuller, James Moody and Wynton Marsalis. Our vocalist Donovan Davis will also be presenting a wonderful arrangement of Afro Blue, arranged by Robert Glasper.
Jazz Ensemble Program
Our concert consists of “Mostly Mingus”…selections originally composed by the great bassist Charles Mingus and arranged by members of the Mingus Big Band, a group formed in his honor to pay tribute to the man and his music. In addition to Mingus, you can expect to hear an arrangement to feature our saxophone section as well as one written specifically for this band by one of our own members.
