Sean Lally’s The Long Now open at Exhibit Columbus

The Long Now, an installation by Associate Professor Sean Lally and UIC School of Design alumnus Matthew Wizinsky, opened August 24 as part of Exhibit Columbus in Columbus, Indiana.
As one of six groups of 2018–19 Exhibit Columbus University Design Research Fellows, Lally and Wizinsky have participated in public symposia and developed the project in collaboration with students over the past year. The installation is sited in Eliel Saarinen’s First Christian Church.
From the project description:
The Long Now is an overlay of two experiences, one physical and one digital. The first is climatic, as the space is tuned to current norms of body and nature, and the second provides a glimpse into a plausible yet unfamiliar version of this world. The combination calls into question our preconceptions and the established norms that define our evolving planet, reorienting our place and perspectives.
