Francesco Marullo will participate in the upcoming symposium and workshop, From Villa to Cell, at Pontifica Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago. The event focuses on social and collective housing in terms of its relevance to the city, but also as a fundamentally architectural problem.The workshop will review historical housing solutions in Santiago City, and will contrasting them with international projects. Understanding the “villa” as an eminent social and collective construction, the “cell” as the individual, and architecture as an autonomous object, will allow us to test housing projects at various scales and recover the notion of dwelling as a spatial, functional and urban ensemble.
