A lecture and slide presentation by artists represented in the exhibition Beyond Belief, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. This nationally touring exhibition presents fifty works by thirteen artists and artist groups from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.

Without attempting to diagnose a zeitgeist among countries with distinct historical, political, cultural, and linguistic differences, this exhibition investigates, to borrow a term from Vaclac Havel, a “common minimum” found in a number of recent projects from the region.
